Venus Retrograde in Capricorn
Worried about the coming Venus retrograde?
If you are, chill out, I’ll let you in on a little secret...
You already know what it’s going to be about.
Really, you do.
This shouldn’t be a wake up call unless you really haven’t been paying attention. The topics of Capricorn rarely pop up out of the blue, but they do come to a head.
Will some relationships end? Sure, but they were probably already well on their way out.
Will you have to confront unresolved issues? Sure, but you already know what they are, and you don’t want to avoid them anymore, not really.
Most fights between couples revolve around three main issues.
1: Money.
2: Time together.
3: Chores.
Its easy to lose sight of love when the threat of scarcity erodes our sense of security.
Its hard to stay connected when we don’t make time for the ones we love.
Its natural to become resentful when expectations and responsibilities are not defined or adhered to.
We shelve conversations about these issues for all kinds of reasons, not all of them bad. If you realize your partner forgot to take out the garbage for the third time in a row, five minutes before leaving for work while you’re still packing the kids lunches, it may not be the best time to have an H to H about it. Not everything needs to be talked about all the time, and sometimes loving someone means letting the little things slide. But when somethings just not working, we feel it, and if we avoid addressing it for too long, our relationships suffer.
Avoiding conflict for the sake of harmony can leave us feeling imprisoned. How fortunate then, that Venus has the ‘great liberator’ of astrology, Uranus, as her guest in Taurus, where she can easily access their unique talents. But before you start rigging dynamite to your relationship dynamics, remember we are talking about an easy, flowing, trine between Capricorn and Taurus. A simple conversation might reveal that your partner is as eager to rewrite the script as you are.
Venus isn’t out to get your relationship, she’s out to define it. She wants to sort the fair-weather flings from the committed companions. She wants to know if you’re in, if you’re serious, and if so, what does this look like going forward? Venus wants to know where the real love is in your life, and how to to protect and fortify it to endure any hardship.
Don’t be afraid of Venus retrograde, or the tough conversations she may bring with her. You need to have them, you WANT to have them. As much as we may dream of a love that transcends all boundaries, you also want your love to live in a body that you can see, and taste, and touch. Bodies need homes, bodies need food, and these days bodies have many, many bills to pay.
Venus in Capricorn knows that safe is sexy. Take this time to find ways to make the foundation of your life, whether partnered or otherwise, more solid and secure. Get real with your bills, commit to a more sustainable routine, and have some honest conversations about what you expect from your self and others. Make promises you can keep, however modest they may be. You may just find that your love life will flourish when you plant it on firm, stable ground.
